Nestled in the heart of the Kentish Countryside surrounded by 150 acres of stunning landscape combining rolling hills, natural woodland and romantic apple and pear orchards to wander around, The BarnYard is an enchanting setting

The BarnYard’s licensed restaurant and bar is situated across two areas within a beautiful oak beamed barn with steps leading down to a beautiful patio or onto a lovely decked area overlooking the friendly animals.

As members of Produced in Kent the owners are proud to source the very best in Kentish ingredients wherever possible, a theme that runs throughout their well thought out menus. Not only that, but they produce on site many of the ingredients that are used in their stunning dishes, from the daily freshly laid eggs from their very own BarnYard chickens to the BarnYard apple or pear juice, pressed and bottled directly from their own award-winning orchards.

It’s obvious that the BarnYard’s chefs take a real pride in the food they prepare and use many of the ingredients from their wonderful artisan farm shop in their cooking.

The restaurant is housed in the stunning barn, adjacent to the well stocked Farm Shop and is open from 9am to serve a variety of food ranging from breakfast, brunch and lunch, as well as gorgeous homemade afternoon teas.

The food is well cooked, perfectly presented and very tasty. Starters included a Trio of Prawns and Warm Quail Egg Scotch Egg, both of which were superb. We followed this with the Chef’s ‘Signature’ Slow Roasted Pork Belly which comes highly recommended. The Daily ‘Winter’ Lunch Menu also includes other ‘comfort food’ dishes such as Pulled Lamb Shank Hot Pot and the hearty Steak & Ale Suet Pudding which was accompanied by Sauteed Winter Veg and Mashed Potatoes.

I have to say the portions were extremely generous and finding room for one of the tempting homemade desserts was a struggle, but had to be done!

The staff at the BarnYard were absolutely delightful and nothing was too much trouble.

We had a delicious, well cooked lunch and can’t wait to return. And with friendly farm animals, the farm and gift shop, and the Wildfowl Reservoir and Nature Trails, I think we’ll make a day of it next time.
